Abbott hired as new Mon EMS Executive Director

Mon Health System has announced the appointment of Edward W. Abbott to the position of Executive Director of Mon EMS.
Mon EMS is the primary emergency response service within Monongalia County and responds to over 1,000 emergency calls on a monthly basis. Mon EMS has been owned and operated by Mon Health System since 1981.
Abbott brings more than 24 years of experience to the post. He is a certified Paramedic and a Registered Nurse. He has been employed by Mon General Hospital since 2010 as a Clinical Manager in the Emergency Department. Abbott maintains certification in Advanced Burn Life Support, Advanced Cardiac Life Support, Emergency Nursing, Trauma Life Support, Pediatric Advanced Life Support and as a Paramedic.
“Ed Abbott is uniquely qualified for this leadership role based on his experience as a Volunteer Fireman, Paramedic and Emergency Room Nurse,” said Darryl Duncan, President and CEO of the Mon Health System. “His passion for leadership and community service is infectious. Abbott began his career as an EMT. He obtained his nursing education from Washington Hospital School of Nursing in Washington, PA. This May he will receive a B.S. degree in Nursing from California University of Pennsylvania.
Abbott is a life-long resident of Carmichaels, PA.
