Generous Donation Funds New Mon Health Shakuri-Rad Family Center for Minimally Invasive and Robotic Surgery

Thanks to a generous donation provided by Jaschar Shakuri-Rad, DO, FACOS, Urologist and Master Robotic Surgeon at Mon Health, Whitney Shakuri-Rad, EdD, and their family, Mon Health is proud to announce the dedication of the Mon Health Shakuri-Rad Family Center for Minimally Invasive and Robotic Surgery.

The funds from the donation will be used to promote and enhance the technology and care provided in the center, previously named the Center for Minimally Invasive Surgery, resulting in the best clinical outcomes for patients treated across Mon Health System.

“We are profoundly grateful for the exceptional honor bestowed upon our family. It is a tremendous privilege to be associated with an institution that tirelessly strives to improve the lives of patients and their families,” said the Shakuri-Rad family. “We hope that our contribution will make a lasting impact on the well-being of the people in our communities and state. We thank the Vandalia Health family for the opportunity to be part of the health system’s mission and for creating a legacy of healing that will resonate for years to come.”

Minimally invasive procedures utilize advanced, robotic, computer and optical technologies to assist Mon Health System’s skilled surgeons with operations. This allows for safer procedures, better outcomes, and quicker recoveries for patients.

In recognition of the generous donation, Mon Health System will be placing plaques at locations across the region that offer robotic surgery. An unveiling of the plaques will be announced at a later date.

Mon Health Medical Center is accredited as a Center of Excellence in Robotic Surgery by the Surgical Review Corporation. This accreditation distinguishes the facility by providing the highest quality of care to patients as determined by an independent, external process of evaluation. In addition, Dr. Shakuri-Rad is recognized as a Master Surgeon in Robotic Surgery and Surgeon of Excellence.

“This investment is furthering state-of-the-art technology in our new Mon Health Shakuri-Rad Family Center for Minimally Invasive and Robotic Surgery and will allow our vision to become the most technologically advanced healthcare provider with the warmest touch in the region become a reality,” said Goldberg. “The donation provided by Dr. Shakuri-Rad, Whitney, and family will not only advance our minimally invasive surgery program but improve and expand access of robotics across our communities.”
